Bjørknes is a private institution which receives no state funding; it is financed by the tuition fees paid by its students. Each year Bjørknes receives approximately 2000 students at its three schools, two of which are situated in Oslo and one in Ålesund on Norway´s west coast.
Bjorknes College offers a few programmes offered at Bjørknes in cooperation with universities aboad. The first year of the following bachelors degrees is taken at Bjørknes College: physiotherapy at Saxion University in the Netherlands, media studies at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia, and Chiropractic studies at Glamorgan University, Wales, RMIT in Perth or Murdoch University in Perth, Australia. We also offer Medicine in collaboration with the University of Oslo and Comenius University, Martin in Slovakia and Pécs University in Hungary.
In addition, we offer two prestigious master programs in Peace & Conflict studies and International Studies in cooperation with International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO), the Australian National University, Australia and Stellenbosch University, South Africa.
Bjørknes world wide education
Due to the student´s increasing demand for information about studies abroad, Bjørknes world wide education was set up in 1997 to provide students with free advice and information about universities in other countries. We now represent more than 20 universities in 10 countries.
How can Bjørknes world wide education help?
As part of the general counselling we provide, we provide information about the possibilities abroad, we answer practical questions like where to apply, how to apply, what requirements are needed, and so on. We also help with student visas and accommodation. This service is free and is available to all Norwegian students wishing to study at one of the universities we represent.
We represent universities in Australia, England, Hungary, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland, Slovakia, South-Africa and the Czech Republic.
Financing an education abroad
The Norwegian state provides funding in the form of student loans and grants to Norwegian students accepted to study approved courses at overseas institutions. Students are eligible for additional grants to cover tuition fees.
